Hello UNA Brooklyn Members and Interested Parties —

I’m pleased to report that we have date for our first official event. Please mark this event in your calendar. At a minimum, your attendance is requested but we prefer you bring at least one other person.

Event: Screening of “The Reckoning“.

Presented by: UN Graduate Certificate Program (LIU) and the Brooklyn Chapter of UNA/USA (United Nations Association of the USA).

Date: March 3rd, 2010

Time: 6p-9p.

Speaker: John Washburn

Mr. Washburn has had an extensive career in diplomacy and international
governmental and non-governmental organizations. He was a director in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations between January 1988 and April 1993. Thereafter he was a director in the Department of Political Affairs at the United Nations until March 1994.

He is currently Convener of the American Non-Governmental Organizations
Coalition for the International Criminal Court (AMICC), co-chair of the Washington
Working Group on the International Criminal Court (WICC), and a past president of the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office.

For more on John Washburn please find his full bio at

Location: Brooklyn Campus, Long Island University, Spike Lee Screening Room.

Carla Hung, our Chapter VP has led this effort. Carl and I will follow-up with UNA Brooklyn Members individually over the next two weeks to confirm attendance.

I have been remiss in putting together a list of advocacy action items that we will use as a basis to build the UNA Brooklyn Advocacy Agenda. This agenda will guide our advocacy efforts with Brooklyn’s members of Congress. You can expect this from me in two weeks.
